MEET THE ARTIST

Jozelle McLea

As an artist, my aim is to bring beauty into your home and for my work to convey conversation. My art is vibrant, full of energy and has movement, created by the many layers of acrylic paint. I'm highly influenced by Mother Nature and all the beauty she gifts us with.

My intention for my work is merely to make you feel happy. When you view my artwork, it brings you back to a moment of nostalgia and remind you of something joyful like the first time you experienced summer, or the light coming through the trees, or your most favourite memory. Although my artwork is bold and has a lot going on, they all have a tranquil quality, something you can't put your finger on. If a piece I've created makes you feel content and sets you in a good mood, then that was my intention.

My art style is layered, colourful and created with lots of rhythm. Original pieces are created with mainly acrylic paint on canvas and occasionally I use spray paint, liners, pencil and oil pastel mediums in my work. Paint is layered in colour combinations that's unexpected. Lots of textures are applied to where movement is seen in my pieces.

My art is about being one with the energy of the world and being one with the light, and translating it by how I see the universe that can not be seen with the eye, but by imagination and connection through a deeper state of mind, spiritually.

My work consists of a series of three: The Light, The Water and The Sound. The light is about the energy and how the beauty of the light comes to me. The water is about how the water can be the light, a liquid light that is present in everything and everywhere. The sound is about how the light and the water are connected and how the sound of the light and the water can be heard throughout the world.
